KILOSA FLOOD VICTIMS

Floods caused by EI Nino rains in Kilosa District, Tanzania, have killed several people, injured many and rendered thousands homeless. Over 1,140 houses have been completely destroyed, and at least 5,600 have been submerged in water. Schools and health facilities have been severely damaged. At least 28,000 people need urgent help with food, shelter and supplies to survive.

The Embassy invites and accepts monetary donations from all Tanzanians and other donors in the U.S.A. to provide immediate support and relief for the victims.

If you wish to make a donation, the Embassy accepts the following:

  • Donations by check or money order can be mailed to: The Embassy of Tanzania, "Kilosa Flood Victims", 2139 R Street, N.W., Washington, DC 20008; or
  • Donations by credit card payment -please call 202-884-1080 and provide your credit card information (Mastercard, Visa and Discover cards are accepted, plus $2.00 processing fee).

The Embassy would appreciate if all donations are received no later than February 15, 2010.
