Embassy Profile

The Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in the USA has the responsibility of promoting relations of friendship and co-operation between the governments and the peoples of the United Republic of Tanzania and the United States of America. The Embassy is also accredited to Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Venezuela. The Embassy's responsibilities are in the following areas:

A. Consular Matters

  1. Visa issuance
  2. Dissemination of information and advice to people visiting Tanzania
  3. Renewal of passports for Tanzanian nationals
  4. Passport replacement for Tanzanian nationals
  5. Issuance of Emergency Travel documents (ETD) for Tanzania nationals in distress
  6. Providing advisory services to Tanzania nationals

B. Economic Matters

  1. Promotion of economic diplomacy
  2. promotion of investments
  3. promotion of tourism
  4. Coordination with the World Bank and IMF and other financial institutions

C. Other Matters

  1. Facilitating co-operation between NGOs in Tanzania and NGOs in the area of our representation
  2. Promoting cultural exchange between Tanzania and others in the area of our representation
